FUEN met Minority Commissioner of Germany Bernd Fabritius
19.12.2018On Monday, 17 December 2018 FUEN President Loránt Vincze and Vice President Bernard Ziesch met with the Federal Government Commissioner for Matters Related to Ethnic German Resettlers and National Minorities Bernd Fabritius. The commissioner invited the leaders of the minority umbrella organization in Berlin to discuss the current situation of European minorities and FUEN’s plans for the upcoming year, including the 70th Anniversary Congress.
The parts agree on the aim and efforts of the FUEN to promote the rights of national minorities and to promote the peaceful coexistence of national minorities with the majority societies while respecting the national sovereignty of the member states, and rejecting separatism and nationalism. Bernd Fabritius assured the support of the federal government towards the FUEN projects.
At the meeting the status of the "House of Minorities" project was also discussed. Commissioner Fabritius and President Vincze agreed that best would be to have the initiative launched as a flagship project in the German-Danish Borderregion in 2020, the Year of Friendship between the two states.
The German Federal State is the main financial supporter of the FUEN’s activities.
